PERFORMANCE DANCE COMPANY

In Motion is composed of outstanding dancers selected from the center's training program, auditions and invitation. The aim of this dance ensemble is to provide opportunity for these dancers to experience the creative process of a performing organization while refining and expanding their technique and knowledge of the Art of Dance.

The ensemble seeks to make available to the community the widest range of quality dance through lecture-demonstrations, workshops, school, community and professional performances (seasons). We wish to develop a wide repertoire based on classical and contemporary ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip hop and world dance, in order to reach everyone. It is our goal to give each individual a greater appreciation and understanding of the Art of Dance.

Company Director: Nikole LaChioma
Company Ballet Master: Adam Holms

ABOUT THE COMPANY

This pre-professional company was started to provide performance opportunities for talented and gifted young dancers. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our dance ensemble in the past 4 years and look forward to our fifth season! They have performed at local community venues and been invited to dance with professional companies at City Center Dance, DRA Benefits, Solstice In Times Square and the International Dance Festival-NYC 2007. These young dancers have been instructed by prominent dancers and choreographers from notable ballet, modern, jazz and hip hop companies. Our company members take classes from our in-house faculty, guest faculty and receive Master Classes from notable instructors in the field of dance on a monthly basis. It is our hope that during our fifth season, we will perform more frequently and achieve a higher level of technical and performance excellence. The ensemble is available for performances, fundraisers and entertainment. Scholarships are given on both a financial and talent basis. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Our goal is to increase this scholarship each year for the performing arts! You need not be a student of the Performing Arts Center of Connecticut, LLC to be a company member of In Motion. The only requirement for dancers accepted into the company, are three (3) ballet classes (one company and two leveled), one (1) Modern class and one (1) Company Choreography and/or Repertoire Session per week and one (1) monthly Master Class. The reason for the required classes is to build a close rapport between the dancers in the ensemble and develop a similar style and way of working. There may be additional company choreography and repertoire rehearsals called as needed. Dancers are encouraged not to miss classes, choreography sessions or rehearsals, and to learn all repertoires. There will be a meeting for all company dancers and their parents to explain ensemble policy, obligations and fees.
