“Great artists are people who find the way to be themselves in their art. Any sort of pretension induces mediocrity in art and life alike.” - Margot Fonteyn
Today’s Musical Theater requires performers to do it all: sing, dance and act! We feel that those students wising to perform during their school years, pre-professionally and pursing the arts in college or professionally benefit most from study in all three areas. No matter which of these three areas is the student’s strong suit – every performer needs to be versatile enough to do all three. Our professional faculty is active in community, professional theater and Broadway. They offer our students not just inspiring and educational class work, but first hand knowledge of performing.
OUR GOAL
Our hope is to have each student achieve a level of comfort and expertise in voice, acting and dance. Our staff works together to integrate all three skills to build strong base in performance, technique and confidence.
THE SOUNDWAVE SHOW CHOIR
Soundwave is a brand-new community Show Choir for talented teens that are passionate about singing, acting, and dancing on stage!
SOUNDWAVE, in partnership with The Performing Arts Center of Connecticut, is a new performance-based intensive program focused on song & dance routines in a Show Choir setting. Students will learn complex vocal arrangements and demanding dance combinations while being taught the importance of ensemble-style performance. The young artists will have the chance to showcase their material at three PACC events and in a fully produced Soundwave concert at the end of the term! With our professional training, each performer is granted the opportunity to further develop his or her on-stage presence, dance/movement technique, and music awareness.
The Show Choir concept began in Midwest America in the 1960’s. The concept calls for overly expressive body & facial language. Challenging dance moves and choral harmonies usually accompany this. The popularity of Show Choir performance has rapidly increased with the recent creation of Fox Television’s comedy “Glee”.
Rehearsals, beginning January 16th, are on Saturday’s from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Concerts include the evenings of Feb. 27th, March 27th, and June 20th. The program concludes with a Soundwave showcase at PACC on Saturday, June 5th at 8:00 PM.
Auditions are required to be considered for admission. The general audition is on Saturday, Jan. 9th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Please email Soundwavechoir@gmail.com with any questions/concerns or visit www.pacofct.com. For registration information, call 203-372-2787.
Enthusiastic performers from Grades 8 to 12 are eligible. Tuition Cost is $500. We are looking for strong vocalists and dancers!
