PACC THEATER
Acting
"Great artists are people who find the way to be themselves in their art. Any sort of pretension induces mediocrity in art and life alike." ~ Margot FonteynNEW ACTING CLASSES 2008-2009
We welcome you to come and try our acting and musical theater classes and faculty at PACC. FANTASTIC NEW CLASS OFFERINGS for the beginner, intermediate and advanced acting student.
At the end of each session, all classes will have an informal presentation of class work and material. This gives our students a performance opportunity and parents a chance to see what the acting student has learned and accomplished in each session. In addition, we will invite talent managers and agents, to each informal performance, which will give our students who wish to work professionally the opportunity to be viewed and signed for professional work.
Thank you for your continued support of the Performing Arts Center and all our programs!

Early on, textual analysis techniques will play a key part in helping to demystify the meaning of Shakespeare’s words, and students will examine how to translate their understanding of the text into performance. At the same time, students will explore how to prepare their bodies and voices for the demands of Shakespearean acting. We will further remove physical and vocal blocks which inhibit natural expression of the body and voice. Our Work here will enrich the actor to express the full spectrum of emotion, complexity of mood and subtlety of thought needed to portray a character. Whether you consider yourself a strong actor, singer or dancer, you will sharpen all of your performance skills and develop those you may not feel quite as confident with. In this free introductory class we will work on an Opening Number that will give you an idea of what it feels like to be a Triple Threat!

This class is geared toward the 7-11 year olds who really aren’t ready for individual lessons and would feel more comfortable learning to sing well with their friends or peers. Many private teachers will not take a student this young, but in our class the students will be given basic and fun ‘warm up’ exercise aimed at enforcing proper breath support and a pure, healthy sound. Simple songs will be learned in class and presented for each other in a supportive environment. If your child wants to audition for the school play or musical, THIS is the class that will help them do their best every time.......AND outshine the competition!

PERFORMING ARTISTS WORKSHOP
This series meets on Mondays for 2 ½ hours from September thru the end of January (Semester 1) and again from February thru the end of June (Semester 2). Both of these semesters conclude with a performance in our theater space.
Each week the student studies voice, acting and musical theater dance with three faculty members skilled in each area. We feel that those students wishing to perform during their school years, pre-professionally, pursuing the arts in college or professionally would ultimately benefit from this program.
No matter which of these three areas is your strong suit – every performer needs to be versatile enough to do all three!
We put this workshop series together in a manner that best utilizes the student’s, instructor’s and parents’ time. Combine that with the optimum use of talent, knowledge and expertise of our faculty, with the ability to have a student work on dialogue, song and dance movement from the same shows will truly benefit and enhance the student’s overall objective of becoming a “triple threat”.
At the end of each semester, family and friends will get to see first hand what the student has learned and how they will apply it practically in a performance! We welcome you to be part of this innovative theater arts program at PACC. Space is limited, so register early. Minimum 6 Maximum 12 Students per group.
